cape v. cloak. v. mantle

i checked the OED and googlged excessively
i need to know the difference between a cloak a cape and a mantle.
from definitions I’ve gotten:
cloak: lose fitting garment akin to what a religious person would ware
cape: hooded cloak
mantel: sleeveless, hoodless cape.

these kind of run counter to what I’d been taught, my brain wants to say cape= no hood or sleeves, cloak= sleeves, hood optional, mantel=cape.

help?
EDIT: there, now my post is in english :P. Sorry was realy sleepy.
