Hairstyle for very wet, very long hair

I've looked at a lot of beauty blogs with various Google searches using "wet hair" but haven't found what I'm looking for (though I now know the must-try makeup trends of 2014!) so hopefully someone here can help.

A twelve-year-old princess has sopping wet hair and needs to get into her formal clothes and into a state reception ASAP. No time for more than a few minutes of toweling and/or blow-drying. Her hair is wavy golden blonde, falls to the small of her back, and is of average thickness. Is there anything she can do, or any way she can put her hair in an updo, to minimize the appearance of 'I've just stepped out of the shower'? I thought of trying to cover up the hair even partially, but surely any material would just soak up water and look wet itself. I'm also assuming she might have water trickling down the back of her neck, so she might wear a high collar of some kind.

I do not have hair anything like this, so personal research won't work. :) Thanks in advance for suggestions!
