Hi guys,
Background: My MC has a mother who grew up in Frankfurt am Main in the 60s/70s.
I was told some time ago about cultural differences between American and German grocery stores and restaurants; German restaurants usually won't seat you unless they're fancy, free refills don't happen. German grocery stores don't have baggers, you purchase the bags or bring your own and do that yourself.
My question is: Were both of the things I mentioned the same back in the 60s/70s?
Googled: German restaurants 1960/70, German grocery stores 1960/70, bagging groceries German grocery stores 1960s.
Thanks, all!
Edited to add: What would grief counseling, if any, have been like in that era? I ask more by curiosity than because I have a specific situation I need to write for, but am still curious.
Edit 3: Or not. I wondered if the legal driving age in Germany was still 18 in the 1970s?
