He is a candle wax-fetishist, and since he was about 13 he's put varying amounts and temperatures of melted wax on his body.
Now, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with the plausibility of his burns. He's supposed to have his hands, forearms, thighs, and pelvic area burned- not horribly, but I'm shooting for the dark pink, leathery look I've seen in fiction. I want to know how much he could stand on his hands before his finger/hand mobility is terribly altered or destroyed. Keep in mind he's been doing this for about 15 years (he's supposed to be ~28) so this isn't just a one-dunk burn.
Haven't decided directly on a setting, but for the time being he lives in the Victorian era.
I've tried looking up 'candle wax burns' (just got scientific information), 'melting point of candle wax' (~159 degrees F), but nothing that's too terribly helpful. I'm rather squeamish so I've tried to avoid looking for information on burns too directly, but from Googling 'different degrees of burns' and it gave me the firstaid.about.com website; first-degree seems to be what I'm trying for.
