Abdomenal stab wound

Hello, everyone~ I'm working on a story set in the "Trauma Center" video game universe. The year is 2020. I have a character out for a walk through a, generally empty, park. He's a male of thin build in his mid-twenties. He's about 5'9. He's a Special Agent in the FBI working on a murder case. During his walk, he runs into an older woman, she is in her fifties and is about 5'3.

He recognizes her as someone seen at the crime scene. (Which is not too far away from the park.) She gets nervous and stabs him (front to back) in the lower abdomen with a fillet knife generally used for scaling fish. The blade is 7.5 inches long. She then withdraws the knife and runs into the woods.

I want for his injury to cause complications, but for him to come out of this okay. A hospital with a trauma ward is not too far away.

I have tried google search without much luck - I can't understand medical jargon, nor am I going to pay for subscription fees for medical databases. D:

Any information is appreciated.
