A friend is writing a novel (current times set in England) and is looking for a 16th Century painting with a closed door preferably showing a handle or a keyhole. It could be from an earlier century but the preference is 16th Century. It could be a painting from an illuminated manuscript instead.
So far we've both checked for 16th century paintings, 16th century paintings with doors, 16th Century art with doors and similiar things. Most paintings if they show doors at all, the doors are open. Most curious.
We'll both spend time this weekend looking in art books (between us we have quite the collection) but if anyone has a suggestion, that would be wonderful. Thank you!
