House rent fees in 1967.

I've searched through Google with several search strings, with variations on the terms. Rentals, renting, house, Los Angeles - and I do find results. However, when I type in '1967' or 'year 1967', it talks about houses built in '67 and today's rental fees, or as is the case with the latter term, it gives me no results.

I've got a group of young men living in a single-storey house in L.A., with low standards of living. The place is not fancy, but it meets all health and safety protocols. The year is 1967, and they pay rent to their landlord on a monthly basis, but for the purposes of my story, they now have to pay two months rent, the landlord being kind enough to give them leeway on the first month.

What would be an average rent fee for such a house, per month?
Or do I need to give more details about the house before determining the price?
