1880-1950 British Literature with a focus on racial issues as a way of defining englishness

I need a little help with finding some literature focusing on a particular subject and time period for my English Lit & Creative Writing masters study. I'm looking for British literature from the period 1880-1950 with a focus on race and racial issues. The focus is to show race as an
important way of defining Englishness and so far I've got a real life case that Arthur Conan Doyle dealt with - The Story of George Edalji. Any sort of recommendation would be much appreciated!

My focus is mainly on Asian origin, with the empire etc... but anything at all will do at the moment!

Thank You
