Can anyone help me with the order of events when a character dies of hunger and cold? Currently, I have him walking until he's too weak from hunger, then lying down on the frozen tundra, so once he stops moving he starts getting cold. I've experienced pretty extreme cold myself, so I know what it's like for toes and fingers to go numb.
Next I wanted to have him eat a piece of crusty snow--is it correct that if he hadn't had anything substantial to eat for several days, this would cause some kind of stabbing pain from the muscles around the stomach?
Then I'm not sure what would happen. Presumably, he would lose feeling in legs and arms, but then would he pass out, or would he be conscious to feel his entire body going numb? Would he still be able to think rationally, or would there be hallucinations? I'd really appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks!
