School procedures for an unexplained death on campus

I was hoping someone could help me with this. I can find some things on the net but not enough. I have no kids in high school and when I was there we didn't have lock downs. Every emergency got you evacuated to the courtyard. The story in is taking place in Madison Wisconsin around 2005.

I'm working on a story where a football player is found dead in the gym, possibly from an overdose (it's not but the important thing here is it looks non-violent). I'm assuming they would call for a lock down until the police arrive. If not, does anyone know what they would do (I assume most schools might vary a bit in this but I want my fictional school to look at least reasonable)?

If they do undergo a lock down, what happens besides the obvious? Do they keep trying to lecture? Do they get everyone to hide? I'm assuming this varies depending on the perceived threat. My university only has a school shooter policy but this probably wouldn't be enacted for a death with no obvious trauma. I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that high schools would be a bit more protective over all.

Most of what I have found are how they help the students to cope afterward. I’m having trouble finding what happens immediately after the body is found.

Links I’ve looked at (googling under ‘procedures for death of a student in high school, for a student dying on school property)

Thanks for any help you can give me.
