blade length/width to decapitate someone? [ANSWERED]

OK, so my characters weapon choice is giving me problems. Firearms and "big" weapons (sword, boar spear, rifle etc) I've sorted, the problem is that I need a weapon, a blade, that he can carry under clothes iwthout attracting suspicion, and ideally would be capable of decapitating someone.

Now, right now I have him using a custom variant of a Boker A-F combat knife. Blade length about 8-9 inches, decent weight blade width slightly under that of a KA-BAR. This is a perfect all-rounder, buuuuut....Something abotu that just doesn't feel right, I'm just not sure if it could take someone's head off. What do you guys think?

It's theoretically possible to do with a standard A-F knife, tried it on a ballistics gel torso. Wasn't clean though, and (yes, my character has enhanced strength) I'm picturing a clean sweep of the blade to take off the head.

do you reckon the blade as-is is feasible? If no, any suggestions? I like the dagger silhouette, so I'd like to keep that design, and it's supposed to be carried across the back of the waist, so nothing with a blade more than 8-9 inches.

thanks guys
Spike

StephenT (stormwreath) has just given me my answer, my hero will now be carrying a Gurkha Kukri, and I can work in a backstory for that as well and make it a personal weapon too.

Thank you for all the answers

[ANON POST] Reception of trans boy at a Reform synagogue

What sort of response would a trans boy (who until now everyone thought was a girl) who was transitioning and starting to present as male get at a fairly large Reform synagogue in a major US city? Setting is modern day. There are several gay and lesbian couples in the congregation, and most people are OK with that, but obviously just because people are fine with the LGB doesn't mean they'll be fine with the T. His aunt is one of the rabbis, and he's very close to her; he came out to her before he came out to anyone else, and she completely supports him, which would probably help a lot.

I didn't know how to research this except to ask trans Jewish people, but I don't know any in RL. I've asked some cis Jewish people, but in my experience, straight, cis people are not very good judges of how well queer people are treated for obvious reasons. I've read a lot about the Reform position on transgenderism, but that, too, only helps so much.

[ANON POST] Russian endearments for Veronika, specifically alternative to Nika and Vera.

I am looking for possible Russian endearments for a character named Veronika, but do not want to use the name Nika due to the similarity between it and another minor character's name, Nico, and I find the name Vera a bit dated from an American standpoint (I have a great-aunt Vera myself).

The story takes place in modern day America and the character in question is a teenage girl, with her father being an American who lived in Russia for 15+ years (speaks Russian fluently, close relationship with and very proud of his daughter) and her mother being a former Russian spy (not as close due to her mother's numerous issues, loves her daughter but has trouble showing it).

I know that Russian endearments and nicknames play a huge part in people's family lives so simply calling her Veronika seemed unauthentic. I've searched google using the terms "Russian endearments", "Russian nicknames", "Russian endearments Veronika", "Russian nicknames Veronika", and checked out many of the results but pretty much only received the two aforementioned names. I also got the result of Veronichka or Nichka as an option but when searched on it's own (google search terms 'veronichka' or 'nichka') it only got a few personal results, leading me to believe it's either not common or even used at all.

I'd also be willing to accept a more generic but not common endearment so any ideas in that area would be great too.

BONUS QUESTION: There's another character from a Russian background named Luka and I may need a family form of his name as well, so any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks for your help!
