Asylum in the UK
Setting: modern day UK
My character's plane has just landed on an unspecified airport in the UK. She's arrived from a dictatorship that is known for it's use of torture and illegal arrests, and her goal with the trip is to apply for asylum in the UK. Now I've read a LOT of documents about this the last few days, but there are a few things I can't seem to find the answer to:
1) Where at the airport should she go to get the needed documents (the Statement of Evidence Form)?
I assume she will just ask a security guard and he or she will be able to point her in the right direction, but I have no idea where that "right direction" is :P
2) She's got a place to stay and money enough to live pretty comfortably for several months. I'm hoping to avoid her being detained, and from what I understand, it's really a matter of luck whether she's detained or not... is this true? Or will she be detained as she comes from a problem country?
3) How long time would it take to fill out the Statement of Evidence Form? With help from a lawyer, could she be finished after a few hours, or would she need to come back another day to finish the form?
