life span of oil paints, turpentine, canvas

My main character is an ex-painter who has been suddenly overcome with a desire to paint. He has a cardboard box of art supplies beneath his bed, including some three-year-old tubes of oil paint, a bottle of turpentine, and a painting on canvas that he began but never finished. Is this stuff still usable? He's living in a London flat, so there wouldn't be really extreme temperature fluctuations, but it does get a bit cold in there in the winter, if it matters.

If there are any other perishable materials necessary to oil painting that I'm not aware of, please feel free to let me know. :)

I did most of my googling for this question a while ago, but most recently I looked up "oil paint expiration," "turpentine shelf life," and variations therein.
