Ultrasounds.
I'm getting conflicting information in my research on ultrasounds (for pregnancy - I'm writing one that happens around 22 weeks). The good news is, most of them should be answerable by anyone who's had one, so it's not very esoteric knowledge I seek.
(Story is present day, present time, normal world. For help I've been scouring Google, Wikipedia, and What To Expect When You're Expecting.)
1. I could only find one source that said when the results came back, and it said within one to two days; but I've found pictures of ultrasounds being taken and they show monitors with images. Is the 1-2 day time for printed results? Why can't they do something equivalent to hitting Alt + Print Screen and send the output to an office printer? And how much of the fetus can be seen on the screen? All? Just a part? Or is it just a vertical cross-section? (In which case I can understand how Alt+PrtSc wouldn't be helpful...)
2. The doctors in the pictures are typing on keyboards attached to the monitors. Are they entering information? If so, what? Does it demand a lot of attention? Or rather, how complex a conversation can they hold while doing it?
3. Is twenty minutes a realistic length of time? I've found everything from 5 to 30; 20 seems like a safe bet, but as long as I'm here, it can't hurt to double-check.
4. Is there anything else I should keep in mind? Things that are often written wrong in such scenes, for instance? Just off the top of your head.
Thanks!
