Duties of a Girl Friday

Hello. I have tried googling this multiple times and I have not been able to find what I am looking for. I have this character who is an "girl friday" type for a P.I. and I am trying to figure out what all she would do.
I figured out so far maybe some book keeping and errand running but I was hoping for some more indepth.
Does anyone have any ideas that are more detailed?
Thank you.

Diabetic foot care

I have a character with a neighbor who is diabetic. Her specific problem is keeping her toenails trimmed safely, since foot care is important to diabetics. [she has trouble because of arthritis and poor eyesight] What I want to know is if there is a level of safe foot care above the cosmetic pedicure that does not require a visit to a podiatrist. She has no insurance.

Running an estate

I'm looking for information on running an estate in England during modern times. The only info I seem to be able to find is on historical stuff and while some is useful it doesn't say some of the stuff I need. It may be necessary to make it up, but I thought I'd post a plea for help here first.

The thing at the bottom of the screen on CNN

Obviously, typing the subject line of this post into Google in order to identify it is a fruitless endeavor, so I ask of thee to help me.

What is that thing at the bottom of the screen on CNN? A scroll bar, news ticker, what is it? I need to identify it for a research paper in psychology class, so I'd like a formal definition, not "CNN ticker thingy" or other colloquial things.

Here's a small picture with the element I'm talking about lit up.

(I hope that didn't mess anyone's pages up. If it did, I'll edit and put it behind a cut.)

I'm embarrassed that I don't know this, as I <3 CNN, but I just...don't.

Can anyone help me please? Thank you in advance!

edit: Crawler it is! Thanks, rachel_martin64!
