Creep of the Week!

Leukemia in Children

Setting: Modern day Japan
Google: Leukemia, Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, metastised leukemia, brain tumors, and other odd combinations thereof. Also, ran three different med-site searches. *facepalm*

Okay, multiquestion! Yay!

Basic premise: I have an eight year old Japanese boy. He's been diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, and has recently taken a turn for the worse. I want to bring in some brain tumors, too.

Question 1: What would be the first signs of a brain tumor--that would be different/noticable from the surrounding leukemia/chemo complications? (His father is a neurologist, if that helps any.)

Question 2: He's in what appears to be the end stages of the disease. What kind of palliative/hospice care would he be recieving? (Surprisingly, websites are loathe to go into this.)

Question 3: Randomly, using a conveniently placed plothole, a bone marrow donor appears on the horizon! (Yay!) Would medical profesionals attempt to transplant the bone marrow? Or would it be too risky to put Kid through full-body irradiation?

Question 4: Jump about 14 years into the future. Kid is now 22 years old. I want his leukemia to recomplicate things. What would be his first sign that the leukemia was back? And, seeing as how this is his second round with it, how quickly would it progress? Would it be worse than before?

Thanks for your help!!!
