European cities

I'm writing about a British punk band going on their first European tour, in January 1976. The members of the band are working-class. Unfortunately I myself have never been to mainland Europe. I don't want to just go to websites about these cities, because the websites are always tourist traps that are just trying to get you to go there, so they'll only tell you about "Attractions" and how wonderful everything is. Therefore, I would be extremely appreciative for anyone's first impressions of the following cities, or ideas on how to find realistic, balanced accounts of them:
