MOD POST ... again

This used to be on the user info, but somehow it got deleted. That was my bad, so I'm not going to give anyone a warning or single anyone out.

Criticizing other posters' choice of subject matter is not allowed.

This just isn't the place for it. It causes too much tension. If you're disgusted, baffled, or angered by someone's story, keep it to yourself.

There are some times when criticism is appropriate, especially when it's intended to help the author write a better, more accurate story. You guys can use your own common sense, but here are some examples to help:

Okay

"There's no way to make this work in a realistic story. You're going to have to do some major handwaving or rethink the premise."

"The recovery process you've described is unrealistic. I don't think the story will work as you've described it."

"Based on your post, you're going to have to learn a lot more about the time period before you can write this story at all accurately."

Not okay

"Anthropomorphic animals? FURRY!!"

"What kind of sick bastard do you have to be to write about a kid being raped? You should be locked up."

"I hate vampires. I don't understand why anyone would want to write about them."

I know that some of you have posted similar comments intending them to be taken as a joke, or at least not as criticism, but if you don't know the poster you're responding to, it's not a good idea. If I post a question about lube, I don't want your thoughts on yaoi, I just want to know the helpful info about buttsex, yeah?
