Effects of Extreme Weather Exposure on Developing Bruises

One of my characters has just suffered a brutal beating (bare-knuckles punches across back and ribs). Character escapes and ends up out of doors, in the middle of a freezing rain. He remains there long enough for the earliest stages of hypothermia to set in (exact times can be altered for story purposes, but let's say around an hour) then is rescued.

Question: would the extreme cold in any way retard or otherwise affect the development of bruises from the beating? Would his rescuers immediately notice anything was amiss if the character did not tell them what drove him into the sleet?

If it's helpful, this character is about twelve years old and has a medium-dark olive complexion. He would be very underdressed for this weather.
