If I were an African American Male, aged 20 or so, ten years back (if time is important), living in Harlem, and was keeping my hair in braids/cornrows-
I rather don't think he'd be doing it himself. If he lacked a mother-type, would he go to a hair salon for this kind of thing? A neighour? What if he were suddenly yanked out (on his own) to a city like New York. Would he simply look for a new barber?
Odd query, I know- but the plotline of an entire short story now rides on the info. X_____X
