Gut wounds...

Man in 12th century is stabbed in the gut by a sword. So hard it goes right through.

Misses vital organs. Is fixed up by a monk.

Going on a 'best case scenario' (ie he survives and makes a full recovery) -

a) how would this be treated

b) What would the recovery time be?
