Subtle indicators of Jewish faith

I'm writing a fic about a Jewish character. Her religion isn't an integral part of the plot, especially as she isn't particularly devout; she grew up in the faith but drifted away as she grew up. I'd like to make the point, though, that she didn't consciously reject her religion but merely lost sight of it, and to that effect, I'm looking for help as to any small, subtle details I might be able to incorporate in the background just to indicate it - what might she have learned in childhood that she wouldn't easily let go of as she grew up?

For reference: the story is set in the mid-nineties, and she's in her late twenties/early thirties, single, and lives alone in Washington DC. I'm reluctant to use dietary restrictions for my purposes because she works in the higher echelons of law enforcement and thus has to grab meals on the go, so to speak, but I'm open to persuasion. Can anyone help?

Edited to add: Thanks, guys. I didn't anticipate such an amazing response.
