Limestone caves with drinking water

Hello, first time poster. I've spent weeks researching information on caves but some details have proven elusive. I have two questions-

Is it possible to have fresh, drinkable water in a limestone cave? I have found minor mentions of fresh streams in limestone caves but I worry the water would not be drinkable because of the limestone seeping into it.

Does a cave being opened to sunlight stop the growth of limestone formations? If it does, why? Again, I have found mention that sunlight exposure does indeed halt the 'growth' of a cave but only in passing and I don't see the mechanism for it.

Any help would be wonderful!
