Celebrity crush 2000s US

I'm looking for a little help on what celebrity would my character had been likely to have a crush on?

It would have been no earlier than 2000, probably before 2005. The character's from New York State but I'm not sure if that should make a difference.

I'm ideally looking for a film actor, but TV actor, musician or even sports star is a valid alternative.

I want it to be someone who was at least late 20s at the time, male, tall, dark haired, and a non-American accent would be a bonus.

I realise this is highly subjective but I have tried to google: celebrity crush; celebrity crush 2000s US; tall, dark haired actors

Many thanks

Edited 09/01: Thanks to everyone - I've had some really good suggestions, and I'm making a shortlist... A couple of people asked how old my character is so wanted to add they were born in 1990 so I'm looking at somewhere between 10 and 15.

Colin Farrell?

Jude Law? He meets all your criteria and he was People's sexiest man alive 2004.
If the character is younger though than there's no way she would have a crush on Jude Law. Yeah he won Sexiest Man Alive but that magazine appeals more to middle-aged people. Nobody in their late teens or early 20s was crushing after Jude Law.

Ricky Martin?

I thought Ricky Martin, but then I also considered Enrique Iglesias. He's 6'2", I had no idea.

How old is your character? A ten year old will be attracted to a different person than a teen, late 20s or even 60s

TV-wise, maybe Goran Visnjic who played Luka on ER? His character debuted in '99 and I remember him being pretty popular.
I had a huge crush on Keanu Reeves during that era. The Matrix came out in 1999.

If your character is early- to mid-20s or older and likes Jane Austen, Colin Firth is a good candidate. He played Darcy in 1995's Pride and Prejudice and was hugely popular because of that role. He then played Mark Darcy (the character was based on his portrayal of Darcy in P&P) in the two Bridget Jones's Diary movies in 2001 and 2004.

That was my case at exactly the time in question.

Oh, and I should add that I am Russian, but the crush started after a friend brought me the P&P VHS as a gift, from her business trip to US. *giggle*

I think this indicates that the movie was quite popular then and there.

Russell Crowe was the first one who came to mind for me. Back in Gladiator days... A Beautiful Mind...
Orlando Bloom?

I have a People yearbook from 2000 which isn't as helpful as I thought it would be. It does peg BSB Kevin Richardson as one of the sexiest men though. I flipped through it and the audience is definitely not for teenagers. You might want to take a quick look on eBay for old TigerBeat etc magazines from 2000ish - magazines sell like hot cakes there :-)

ETA: "Googling Top Teen Celebrities 2000" might also help - it coughed up thes lists - and
Charactes from Buffy and Angel?
Alexis Denisof became fanciable in s3 of Angel, (Wesley) and before that there was James Marsters and David Boreanaz and Anthkny Head (Spike, Angel, Giles).

Goran Visnijc also plausible.

Any of these? A lot depends on how old your character is, and on her personal preference in movie genres.

Christian Bale
Sean Bean
Orlando Bloom
Nicholas Cage
Tom Cruise
Jack Davenport
Johnny Depp
Colin Farrell
Colin Firth
Morgan Freeman
Mel Gibson
Hugh Jackman
Jude Law
Heath Ledger
Ian McKellen
Viggo Mortenson
Liam Neeson
Robert Pattinson
Daniel Radcliffe
Keanu Reeves
Alan Rickman
Hugo Weaving
Elijah Wood
definitely Orlando Bloom
I had the biggest crush on Jude Law in 2003. So he's at the top of my list.
My first thought was Hugh Jackman.
A boyband member, of course! Aside from the non-U.S. accent, JC Chasez fulfills all your criteria. Plus, his fans really were legion at the time. I know nowadays it's all Timberlake, Timberlake, Timberlake, but in the early '00s, before either of them had released a solo album, they were very nearly neck and neck in the public eye.
could be someone from bsb. i liked five (5ive) but they broke up in 2001.

1.) How old is your character?

2.) What kind of music, movies, and/or sports do they prefer?

I've got some suggestions, though not necessarily many, depending on your answer.

Your best bet would be to take their favorite music or movie genres, or sport, and Google who was dominating in that field in the early 2000's, i.e. "most popular male movie starts 2003" or "sexiest quarterback 2000", and see what you get.
My sisters all had Justin Timberlake posters on their walls.
The 2001 Sexiest Man Alive was Pierce Brosnan aka James Bond. It was not so long after 9-11 and part of his appeal was that he was/is a pretty good husband/father in addition to having one of the most perfectly sculpted faces.

In the late 90's and early 2000's the guys from Friends were still pretty popular.

Tom Welling from Smallville lacks the accent but he's the classic tall, dark and handsome. Actually Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) had his own fair share of droolers.
Adam Brody from The O.C was adorkable and while I wasn't into blonde boys, his co star Ben McKenzie was a heart throb at the time too.

I was pretty into Michael Vartan from Alias at that time. Oh and Bradly Cooper was on that show too. He was super cute in that role.

If you're character is into sci fi at all, that's the time when Firefly came out. Nathan Fillion is really crush worthy.

And the Leonardo DeCaprio love was still really strong around 2000.

So was the love for the Lord of the Rings movie. You have a whole bunch of choices there. From the sweetly geeky Sean Astin and Elijah Wood to the very hot Viggo Mortensen and of course Orlando Bloom again. Between Pirates and LotR, Bloom was very popular and yeah, accent!
If you're looking for someone non-American, definitely Orlando Bloom or Jude Law.

FWIW, I was in high school and college during this time, and in New Jersey with quite a few friends from New York state. I had huuuuuge crushes Jude Law and Ewan McGregor, while pretty much everyone else I knew was in love with Orlando (especially once the first Pirates came out).
Ewan McGregor. And Orlando Bloom. Orlando Bloom is probably the one who best fits your criteria, tbh.
As someone that meets your criteria (I was born in 1989), I'd suggest Orlando Bloom or Ewan McGregor. Keanu Reeves and Nathan Fillion are fair game for the more nerdy types (like me).

For the more "similar age" crushes, Daniel Radcliffe is a good choice.
